While discussing evangelism in our Bible study yesterday, one gal said what everyone else was thinking. She honestly admitted that she struggles to share the gospel with people, since it is often nerve-racking and can be incredibly uncomfortable. You could see heads nodding around the room and hear people harmoniously “mmhmm”ing in agreement. She then asked a question along the lines of “How can you avoid this discomfort?”
My good friend quickly jumped in and reminded us all of a difficult yet important truth. He acknowledged that evangelism often is uncomfortable, especially the first couple of times you do it. But then he added, “But at the end of the day, IS YOUR COMFORT MORE IMPORTANT THAN THEIR SALVATION?”
By asking this one rhetorical question, he essentially challenged every person in the room to maintain an eternal perspective and to evangelize in light of eternity. With eternity in view, does comfort really even matter?
Who in your life has comfort kept you from sharing the Gospel with?
